The Color Purple stars Jeannette Bayardelle and Angela Robinson will perform at Borders-Columbus Circle on Wednesday, February 7th at 7 PM.

Bayardelle, who plays Celie, and Angela Robinson, who understudies the role of Shug, will sign autographs following the performance.

"Committed to enriching lives through entertainment and knowledge, Borders offers customers the opportunity to meet their favorite authors and musicians in a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. This event is part of a nationwide Borders celebration of Black History Month and allows fans of The Color Purple the opportunity to hear a selection from musical in an intimate setting," state press notes.

The Color Purple is based on Alice Walker's Pulitzer Prize-winning novel.  The musical--of which Oprah Winfrey is one of the producers--opened at the Broadway Theatre on December 1st, 2005.

The Color Purple is directed by Gary Griffin, while Marsha Norman
(Pulitzer Prize-winner for 'night, Mother, The Secret Garden) wrote the book. The show's eclectic score, which blends gospel, pop, ragtime and blues, was penned by pop tunesmiths Brenda Russell, Allee Willis and Stephen Bray. Donald Byrd is The Color Purple's choreographer.

Borders-Columbus Circle is located in the Time Warner Building (10 Columbus Circle, Celebrity Level).  Visit www.colorpurple.com for more information.
