The Collective NY is excited to announce their sixth annual ten minute play series, C:10, on the heels of a highly successful and extended run at NYC's oldest continuously running off-Broadway theater, Cherry Lane. The Collective NY's C:10 is a compilation of 14 different ten minute plays with 44 actors.
This year the series is called C:10 CAPTURE, BOUND, ESCAPE and all of the plays tackle many current socially relevant themes. The Capture program's focus is on aspects of being a woman today. The Bound program's focus is on the NFL, madness, privilege and gun control. The Escape program's focus is on addiction, home, government fears and school shootings. The Collective NY unites professional artists who share a responsibility to create work in the contemporary American Theatre that is emotionally truthful, socially relevant, and defiantly accessible.
Founded in 2007 by Amy Schumer & Kevin Kane, among others, The Collective NY's weekly sessions have birthed several renowned projects such as Emmy award winning TV show Inside Amy Schumer. It is during these meetings that the plays for the ten minute series are worked on. The collaborative power of the ensemble sets the company's work apart from others. Currently, the Production Company is a creative home to over 60 artists & is headed by Artistic Directors Ross DeGraw & Sayra Player. C:10 will take place at Royal Family Performing Arts Spaces (145 West 46th Street, 3rd Floor) and will run from November 29th through December 16th with Wednesday-Sunday performances at various times.
Tickets can be purchased for each hour long program separately ($25 each, $15 for two or more programs, and $15 for students/seniors): CAPTURE, BOUND, ESCAPE. The Collective NY is a not-for-profit company that works together to produce top-quality theater, television and film. The company was established in the tradition of The Group Theatre out of a belief that the current conditions of commercialized theatre necessitate collective action.
Commitment to a permanent ensemble is what distinguishes The Collective NY. The company's mission to keep theater accessible to people who would otherwise be excluded is achieved through their No Empty Seats Campaign. Company credits include original productions: Emmy award winning TV show Inside Amy Schumer, David Thigpen's Hurricane Party, 360, Me Equals This, Happy Girl as well as revivals of Ionesco's The Lesson and McGuinness's Someone Who'll Watch Over Me.
