The New York Times confirms today that former President Bill Clinton, Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton, their daughter, Chelsea, her fiancé, Marc Mezvinsky, attended the matinee of NEXT TO NORMAL on Saturday afternoon at the Booth Theater, along with a few secret service agents.
Recent visits to Broadway by other famous political families include Michelle Obama's recent trip with daughters Sasha and Malia to see MEMPHIS and THE ADDAMS FAMILY, and President and Mrs. Obama's trip to JOE TURNER'S COME AND GONE last May.
It has so far been a good spring for NEXT TO NORMAL, which recently announced its recoupment. With a thrilling contemporary score, NEXT TO NORMAL is an emotional powerhouse of a musical about a family trying to take care of themselves and each other. Next to Normal was recently chosen as "one of the year's ten best" by The New York Times, The Washington Post, The Los Angeles Times, Time Out New York, New York Daily News, The Bergen Record, and NY-1.
