The Buddy Group has announced the launching of an interactive game and website for the hit Broadway musical comedy The 25th Annual Putnam Spelling Bee, located at www.SpellingBeeTheGame.com. On the site, users get to be the cast and try their luck at getting deep into the spelling bee.
"Spelling Bee'sTony Award-winning creative team has created the unlikeliest of blockbuster musicals. This hilarious tale of overachievers' angst chronicles the experience of six adolescent outsiders vying for the spelling championship of a lifetime," according to press notes.
"The Buddy Group's mini site allows the user to choose a representative from the cast to spell for them. Audio from the show tells the user what their word is and they can ask for a definition or hear it used in a sentence – often shockingly funny. The challenge is to spell the word correctly and make it to the next round. Once the user has 'won the Bee' they can send the link to three friends and receive a discount code for Spelling Bee tickets."
"Just this last week we presented to the League of American Theatres and Producers online best practices such as those used by Spelling Bee," said Pete Deutschman, CEO and Founder of The Buddy Group. "This is just the tip of the iceberg, but definitely the future, of online marketing for Broadway. The Spelling Bee folks are leading the way."
