The new Musical Dot-Comedy The Bubble begins performances on September 17th at 8pm at The Zipper Factory Theater, as part of the 2008 New York Musical Theatre Festival. The Bubble was written and conceived by Karen Paull, with music by Grammy Award Winner David Pack, of the 80's band Ambrosia. Pack & Paull both contributed to the lyrics. Terry Berliner (Lion King) directs and choreographs and Lon Hoyt (Hairspray) will serve as music director.

The cast features Broadway regulars John Jeffrey Martin (Rocky Horror Show, Hairspray, High School Musical), John E. Brady (Lion King), Mariand Torres (The People Vs. Mona), and Danielle Lee Greaves (RENT, Hairspray). Also featured are Andrea Dora, Emily Drennan, Anthony Giaimo, Jene Hernandez, Victoria Huston-Elem, Maxwell Jenkins, Mario Matthews, Aalok Mehta, and Amy Rutberg.

The Bubble is described by it's creators as:

“What if the rise and fall of the DotCom decade happened in one day? In this hysterical musical dot.comedy nobody knows what the Silicon Valley company go4itt.com does, but everybody including Matt is willing to sacrifice his dream to get a piece of this pre-IPO dot com. Will his greed get the better of him? Or will he flush his future down the toilet to join hottie hipped Harmony's quest to save the oh-so-rare yellow-bellied hoo-doo?“ The show was inspired by author Karen Paull's real-life experiences working in the dot-com world.

The production will also feature designs by Jeremy C. Doucette (set), Paul Milller & Cory Pattack (lighting), David Margolin Lawson (sound), and Tony Castle (projections). Lisa Dozier is the GM/Line Producer and Geoff Cohen is the associate producer. Jen Rogers will serve as production manager and Matthew Melchiorre is production stage manager. Wendy Robbins is credited as an additional book writer.

The Bubble performs Sept. 17 at 8 PM, Sept. 18 at 6:30 PM, Sept. 20 at 3PM, Sept. 25 at 8 PM, Sept. 27 at 3 PM, and Sept. 28 at 5pm at The Zipper Factory Theater, located at 336 W. 37th Street.  For more information on performances and ticket sales, please visit the NYMF website at www.nymf.org.

About NYMF

Hailed as "the Sundance of Musical Theatre," The New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) exists to revitalize one of America’s greatest art forms by discovering, supporting and promoting new musical theater artists, producers, and projects, and by introducing a diverse audience to the vibrancy of contemporary musical theater. Since its inception in 2004, the three-week annual festival has premiered more than 130 new musicals – many of which have gone on to award-winning productions in New York, in regional theaters and on tour in 38 states, and nine countries worldwide.  NYMF 2004 hit Altar Boyz has played well over 1,000 performances off-Broadway and is now in its fourth year at New World Stages; fellow NYMF alum [title of show] recently began performances at the Lyceum Theatre on Broadway.

Widely regarded as the essential source for new material and talent discovery, NYMF is the flagship program of The National Music Theater Network, a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, and is presented in association with BroadwayWorld.com, Production Resource Group and TheaterMania.com, and is supported by amNewYork, Barnes & Noble Booksellers, BroadwayBox.com, BroadwayInsider.com, Frank & Camille's Fine Pianos, HX Magazine, Jossip.com, King Displays, Queerty.com, Manhattan Movement & Arts Center, Metromix.com, The New York Blade, Next Magazine, Panasonic Astrovision, Queerty.com, Tekserve, TheMENEvent, VOGA Italia, and The Zipper Factory.
