The second annual American Fine Craft Show Brooklyn at Brooklyn Museum's Beaux-Arts Court,November 22 and 23, 2014, timed for holiday shopping, will feature handmade ceramics, furniture, glass, jewelry, decorative and wearable fiber, leather apparel, and sculpture. There will be 90 exhibitors in all.
This show is the cornerstone of the new "Art of American Craft" museum series. "How many museum visitors are aware that much of what they see in exhibitions found its origins in the work of artisanal craftsmen--designers of ceramics, jewelry, furniture, glass and fashion?" said Richard Rothbard, craft show and museum series co-founder and director. "A museum venue sends the message that visitors should anticipate seeing outstanding examples."
Joining Brooklyn Museum in the series are Wadsworth Atheneum Museum of Art, Hartford, Conn., April 24-26, 2015 and Monmouth Museum, Lincroft, N.J. next October.
Preview for press and Brooklyn Museum members is Saturday, November 22, 11 am - Noon. If you plan to be in NYC that weekend, let me know if you'd like to come then or at any time Saturday or Sunday.
Concurrent with the craft show, Brooklyn Museum will feature special exhibitions such as "Crossing Brooklyn: Art from Bushwick, Bed-Stuy, and Beyond," featuring 35 artists who live or work in the borough, and "Killer Heels: The Art of the High-Heeled Shoe."
