The OUT LIKE THAT! Festival at BAAD! - The Bronx Academy of Art & Dance defiantly returns for its thirteenth year of keeping it queer in the Bronx. The festival kicks off today, June 12 and continues to Friday, June 28, 2013 with a fierce line-up of dance, theatre, film, and wonderful performances. MACHOS AND HUSTLERS: POETRY, PROSE AND EROTICISM
David Caleb Acevedo and Charlie Vázquez-the authors of the erotic poetry exposé Hustler Rave xx-will be joined by Emanuel Xavier, Simply Rob, Erasmo Guerra and, from San Antonio, Joe Jimenez for a reading of poetry and prose. Readings will be followed by a discussion of the role of the writer as activist. David Caleb Acevedo traveling from San Juan, Puerto Rico, also discusses his most recent photo controversy, which went viral and was used as evidence to dismantle an anti-discrimination bill still in the heated gridlock of legislation in Puerto Rico. Post event mingling and book signing.

NYC Premiere!
HOMEBOY and EL ABUELO
The NYC premiere of Dino Dinco's HOMEBOY, a feature-length documentary examines the lives of several Los Angeles-based gay Latino men who are former gang members, will be screened with his award-winning short film EL ABUELO, featuring the poet Joe Jimenez, who will be on hand to introduce the evening.

MOSQUITA Y MARI
Directed by Aurora Guerrero, MOSQUITA Y MARI is a tender, coming of age story of two young Chicanas set in a fast-paced immigrant community where dreams are often lost to economic survival. Their new-found connection and unexpected desires for each other, forces them to contemplate life and choose between their obligations to others and staying true to themselves.

UNITED IN ANGER: A HISTORY OF ACT UP and SIMPLY ROB
UNITED IN ANGER is a powerful and inspiring documentary by Jim Hubbard about the birth and life of the AIDS activist movement and utilizes oral histories of members of ACT UP, as well as rare archival footage to depict the efforts of ACT UP as it battles corporate greed, social indifference, and government neglect. Also screening will be SIMPLY ROB, the award-winning short documentary by Tom Shrapnel, a portrait of Bronx based Poet Rob Vassilarakis. Diagnosed with HIV when he was 22, Rob recites his turbulent life story through his evocative poetry. With post-screening discussion with filmmaker Jim Hubbard and poet Rob "Simply Rob" Vassilarakis.

D'FaQTo Life
D'Lo, the queer/transgender Tamil-Sri Lankan-American actor/writer/comedian, presents a roller-coaster ride of emotions with juicy stories from D's different solo shows executed through stand-up, spoken word/poetry, and theater. This luscious show is by an infiltrator who lives underground, conspiring ways to make you think and laugh in no particular order.

LIVING WITH PRIDE: Ruth Ellis @ 100
Ruth Ellis, a 100-year-old African American lesbian, recounts her life in this powerful, charming and award-winning documentary by Yvonne Welbon. In addition to exploring her rich past, the film offers a rare opportunity to experience a century of our history as lived by one inspiring woman, who many don't know, and who showed what is possible and what can be realized, if one not only lives long and ages well but also lives with pride.
