Playwright TINA HOWE's world-premiere translations of Eugene Ionesco's double bill of THE BALD SOPRANO & THE LESSON, directed by Carl Forsman, is currently playing a limited engagement at Atlantic Theater Company through Sunday, October 17th. Ms. Howe sits down with NY-1 "On Stage" host Patrick Pacheco to discuss her devotion to the absurdist playwright and the inspiration behind presenting her new translations of her idol's work.

Eugène Ionesco's comic masterpiece, THE BALD SOPRANO celebrates the verbal mayhem that erupts when proper English people lose their ability to communicate. In THE LESSON, a professor tries to teach his student the basics of arithmetic and philology, but things go terribly wrong as his pronouncements escalate into inspired gibberish.
THE BALD SOPRANO & THE LESSON plays Tuesday-Saturday evenings at 8pm, with matinees on Saturday at 2pm and Sunday at 3pm. For tickets, call Tele-Charge at (212) 239-6200.
