Learn the fundamentals of International Latin rumba and cha cha in just 4 weeks (August 4th - 25th) at The Ailey Extension's International Dance Performance Workshop! Fresh off the Dancing with the Stars (Austria) stage (Season 6), Werner Figar and his partner, Shimkiri Syiem, will teach combinations of technique and choreography that will help you develop partnering skills, musicality and an awareness of your body through an electrifying style of dancing. Participants will have a chance to showcase what they have learned in front of a live audience in culminating workshop performances at The Ailey Citigroup Theater. All levels are welcome. No partner or previous ballroom experience required.


Workshop culminates in three performances at the Kat Wildish Summer Showcase:
Saturday, August 27th at 7pm
Sunday, August 28th at 3pm & 7pm

International Latin Dance Performance Workshop
August 4th - 25th
Thursdays 7:00pm - 8:30pm
Saturdays 3:00pm - 4:30pm

ABOUT THE AILEY EXTENSION

Since its inception in 2005, The Ailey Extension has been fulfilling Alvin Ailey's mission of delivering dance back to its origin, the people, by offering "real classes for real people". The Extension offers over 80 classes per week in over 30 different dance and fitness techniques for all levels. Over 43,000 people have taken classes at Ailey's home - the largest building dedicated to dance in New York, the dance capital of the world. It boasts 12 spacious studios with floor to ceiling windows and views of the New York City skyline, providing a space where dancers of all levels and walks of life can learn and be inspired - body, mind, and spirit.

The Ailey Studios are located at The Joan Weill Center for Dance, home of Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, at 405 West 55th Street (at 9th Avenue).
