On Monday, December 5th, The 24 Hour Plays will return to New York at Signature
Theatre's Peter Norton Space (555 West 42nd St, between 10th and 11th
Avenues).
The 24 Hour Plays is "the long-running (10 years!) downtown theatrical high wire act,
produced by The 24 Hour Company. Thirty-six or so brave and talented theater
artists will write, direct, and perform six ten-minute plays in a
single day. The two-hour show, starting at 8pm, features fully-staged
plays that were written the night before and rehearsed and staged that
very day," according to press notes.
For this first of three anniversary shows, The 24 Hour Plays has assembled a mix of 24 veterans and first-timers from the NYC theater community, as well
as some of the participants from last season's
Cold Reading Series.
Writers who have signed on to the event include muMs, aka Craig Grant, (Oz, Morning Breath), Elizabeth
Sorrell (Voice), Elizabeth Meriweather (Nicky Goes Goth), Mac Rogers
(Fleet Week: The Musical), and Mike Doughty (of the recent solo album Haughty Melodic, former Soul Coughing frontman), while directors include
Brian Mertes, Mark Armstrong, Stephen Willeford, and Andrew McCarthy. Gbenga Akinnagbe, Nicolle Bradford, Micah
Bucey, Joachin Perez Campbell, Brent Cox, Michael Esper, Alexie
Gilmore, Chris Guilmet, Patrick Heusinger, Kara Mosley, Kelley
O'Donnell, Lucas Papaelias, Matt Stadelmann, Allison Twardziak,
