The Alley Theater in Houston and Hartford Stage, co-producers of the world premiere stage version of Terms of Endearment, have canceled the production due to scheduling conflicts.  The play was to have been presented at both theatres - in March and May, respectively.

Linda Gray, a replacement Mrs. Robinson for the Broadway production of The Graduate, was originally to have played Aurora Greenway. The role was originated by Shirley MacLaine, who won an Oscar for her performance in the film by James L. Brooks.

Dan Gordon (Gray's companion), based his adaptation off of Larry McMurtry's novel and Brooks' screenplay.  Hartford Stage artistic director Michael Wilson was to have directed.

The Alley Theater in Houston has yet to announce a replacement for the Terms of Endearment slot in their season, but Hartford Stage in Connecticut will present Lynn Redgrave's Nightingale. Redgrave, last seen on Broadway in Roundabout's production of The Constant Wife, wrote and starred in Nightingale, which ran at the Mark Taper Forum in Los Angles last fall.
