In celebration of his 96th birthday, a reading of plays entitled "Inspired by the Poems of Tennessee Williams" will be presented and directed by Blue Roses Productions' Artistic Directors, Erma Duricko and Tim Brown. The evening will consist of new short plays by Blue Roses playwrights Kara Corthron, John Yearley, Tom Wolfe, and Gary Giovannetti with a special guest appearance by actress Tandy Cronyn.

Sun Burst, a short unpublished play by Tennessee Williams, will also be presented in the evening as a co-production with the Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater Festival. The reading is scheduled to take place Monday, March 26th at 7:30 pm and will be held at the Sage Theater in New York City at 711 Seventh Avenue between 47th and 48th Streets.

"Blue Roses Productions is a national production company dedicated to presenting the works of Tennessee Williams, as well as nurturing and producing works by new American playwrights that champion the human spirit, " state press notes.

According to press sources, "Sun Burst, a short play written by Tennessee Williams two years before his death, takes its name from a famous diamond that sits on the finger of a semi-retired leading lady. The diva is held captive in her hotel room by two randy Italian gigolos."

The cast includes Beverly Bentley (C.H.U.D. , Maidstone) and Brian Patacca (Trans, Broken Eros) and will be directed by Patrick Falco. The Blue Roses Tennessee Williams Birthday Celebration marks this play's first public reading. Sun Burst's world premiere onstage will occur the last week of September 2007 as part of the second annual Provincetown Tennessee Williams Theater Festival.

Tickets for the Blue Roses benefit are available for a suggested donation of $20.00 and will be available at the door or by calling 212-252-4915.
