Tectnoic Theater Project Revisits Laramie Ten Years Later to Write 'Epilogue'

On October 6th, 1998 Matthew Shepard was beaten and left to die tied to a fence in the outskirts of Laramie, Wyoming. He died six days later. His torture and murder became a watershed historical moment in America that highlighted many of the fault lines of our culture. 

A month after the murder members of the Tectonic Theater Project traveled to the town of Laramie, Wyoming and conducted interview with the people of the town from the police officers, friends, strangers, and even the boys who assaulted Mr. Shepard.

From these interviews they wrote the play The Laramie Project directed by Moises Kaufman which they later made into a movie for HBO. The piece has been seen by more than 30 million people across the country.

Now, ten years later, members of the Tectonic Theater Project will return to Laramie to find out what has happened over the last ten years. Has Matthew's murder had a lasting impact on the community? How has the town changed because of this event? What does life in Laramie tell us about life in America ten years later?

Their findings will be published as an "Epilogue" to the original Laramie Project script.
