Tapper's Diamonds & Fine Jewelry is pleased to announce the winner of its Rock Her World Design Contest. Michelle Cacovic, who hails from Sterling Heights, has won the competition.
A regional marketing coordinator for Southfield's Grant Thornton LLP, Cacovic has been designing jewelry as a hobby since age 13. Her winning design is a three-stone engagement ring, which beautifully showcases the brilliance of Tapper's unique Rock Her World diamonds. Among hundreds of entries, Cacovic's design caught the eye of Tapper's executives with its unique proportions, timeless appeal and overall marketability.
"Tapper's created this contest hoping to nurture the creative talents of young people in our state," says Steven Tapper, vice president and lead designer of Tapper's Diamonds & Fine Jewelry. "Michelle is exactly the kind of individual we were hoping we'd find. She is passionate about jewelry and design. It's very exciting for Tapper's to showcase the promise, innovation and individuality of an emerging designer. We hope this opportunity will help advance Michelle's design career."
Cacovic's winning design will be manufactured and sold at all Tapper's locations this holiday season. A profile of Cacovic will be featured in the fall issue of Tapper's Accent magazine and on tappers.com. She will also receive a cash award of $500 and the opportunity to accept an apprenticeship at Tapper's Diamonds & Fine Jewelry. Tapper's will reveal Cacovic's Rock Her World design with a special celebration this November.
"This is a dream come true," says Cacovic. "I read an article about the contest and knew I had to enter. I've been designing jewelry since I was a child and felt if I were to win this contest, it would be a sign that I should pursue my passion as a career. Words cannot express how thrilled I am to have this opportunity with Tapper's."
Launched in 2012, the Tapper's Rock Her World collection features diamonds meticulously cut with 81 facets - the only diamond of its kind in the world. The marriage of perfect symmetry and an additional 24 facets allows light to travel through the diamond in a way that makes it appear larger and more brilliant, producing sparkle that is visible from across the room. Taking inspiration from astronomy, each piece of Rock Her World jewelry - including engagement rings, earrings and pendant necklaces for women - is thoughtfully named for a star or constellation.
Artists and designers entered the contest online at www.tappers.com this past spring through June 30, 2015. Designs were judged on overall design, originality, marketability, practicality/wearability and best interpretation of the theme.
