UPDATE: Joan Rivers on 'Road to Recovery'; Taping Canceled for E!'s FASHION POLICE

A source has revealed to the Daily News that a scheduled taping of E!'s FASHION POLICE has been canceled as doctors assess the condition of comedian Joan Rivers who according to recent reports, was brought out of a medically induced coma yesterday.

As of today, the 81-year-old comedian continues to be on a life-support machine and has been in serious condition at New York's Mount Sinai Hospital. Her daughter, Melissa Rivers, made a plea to her mother's fans to pray for a miracle. The E! NEWS taping was to coincide with the beginning of New York Fashion Week.

According to the source Rivers' daughter and close friends are fearful that the comedian's motor skills may have been severely affected by the medical emergency, and that she will be left in a vegetative state "or in a wheelchair."

Meanwhile, according to a source at E!, the comedian is making small, but positive, steps. "It's a slow process, but she's on the road to recovery," the source close to the situation told E! News exclusively. "She's getting better. Don't believe all this ridiculous speculation."

Rivers stopped breathing while undergoing a minor throat procedure on Aug. 28 in New York City. She was then rushed to the hospital where she was placed in the medically induced coma. Rivers had performed a comedy show at a Times Square theater Wednesday night and was reportedly in good health when she went to the clinic for the procedure.

Meanwhile, celebrities and close friends of the legendary funny lady took to Twitter to send their good wishes:

"Sending love, love and more love to Joan," tweeted GLEE star Jane Lynch on Monday.

"All paws for (Joan Rivers) waking up today to a brand new day. Awaiting her continued wit & spirit." posted comedienne Elayne Boosler.

"This isn't funny. Please wake up," tweeted singer Barry Manilow, adding, "Promise I'll be your piano player again. For nothing again!"
