Tap Extravaganza Set for Flushing Town Hall, 5/11

Co-producer Cobi Narita says, "If you like tap, you've got a great chance to see many of the best dancers in the world, all in one night, at Flushing Town Hall on May 11. Tickets are selling fast to our 5th annual Queens Tap Extravaganza. We've got an Emmy winner, several Broadway stars, and a cover girl from Ebony magazine. Tap fans are coming from all up and down the East Coast."

Noted performers include Emmy-winner Jason Samuels-Smith, "Bring in 'Da Noise, Bring in 'Da Funk" stars Baakari Wilder, Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards, and Omar Edwards, the one and only world famous Mable Lee, and award winners Michelle Dorrance and Michela Marino Lerman.

Other top tap dancers include Keitaro Hosokawa, Andre Imanishi, Yuka Kameda, Yumi Koshigai, Kazu Kumagai, Andrew Nemr, Hank Smith, Toes Tiranoff, Aaron Tolson, Tony Waag and the Tap City Youth Ensemble, and Dana Fisch's The Undertoe Dance Company. There will also be the exciting swing dancing group, Mickey D's Savoy Swingers!

Special awards for outstanding achievement will go to Jason Samuels-Smith, Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards, Omar Edwards, Michela Marino Lerman and Tony Waag.

The 5th Annual Queens Tap Extravaganza will take place on Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 8 pm at Flushing Town Hall, located at 137-35 Northern Boulevard in Flushing Queens. Tickets prices range from $10-$20. For information, call (718) 463-7700 Ext. 222 or go towww.flushingtownhall.org.

Producers of the 5th Annual Queens Tap Extravaganza are Flushing Council on Culture and the Arts and Cobi Narita's Jazz Center of New York. Co-producers are Al Heyward and Traci Mann. Music Director is Frank Owens. Artistic Director is Michela Marino-Lerman.
