The New York Musical Theatre Festival and Gold Modern, Inc. will present The Yellow Wood with book and lyrics by Michelle Elliott and music and lyrics by Danny Larsen at the 2007 New York Musical Theatre Festival. The Yellow Wood marks the New York directorial debut of Tony Award winner, BD Wong (M. Butterfly, Pacific Overtures). Performances begin September 19 – October 1, 2007 at Theatre Row's Acorn Theatre. The Yellow Wood is the recipient of 2006 Richard Rodgers and Daryl Roth Award.
"The Yellow Wood is a musical kaleidoscope where a not-so-normal 17-year old boy takes a fantastic, unpredictable journey as he struggles to accept all the parts of himself: his ADD, his Korean heritage and his complex relationships with friends and family. The Yellow Wood explores the angst, joy and highly imaginative state of one teen's amazing brain," state press notes.
The cast is led by Jason Tam (Paul in A Chorus Line, "One Life To Live"), Caissie Levy (Hairspray, currently Wicked), Randy Blair (Oliver! tour, NYMF's The Singing Nun), Yuka Takara (Connie in A Chorus Line, currently in Rent), MaryAnn Hu (Miss Saigon, TV's "Whoopi"), Patrick Boll (Faith Healer, Twentieth Century), Elizabeth Lundberg (Ragtime, A Christmas Carol), Sean Bradford (finalist on CBS/The Early Show's "My Broadway Debut"), Jill Abramovitz (Martin Short: Fame Becomes Me), Dennis Moench (National Tour All Shook Up, Altar Boyz), Scot Fedderly (National Tour Ragtime), and Marnie Schulenburg (Alison Stewart on "As The World Turns").
