Four-time Emmy Award winning talk show host Bill Boggs will complete the winter 2006-2007 run of his long-running show, Talk Show Confidential, in order to embark on a book tour for Got What It Takes?: Successful People on How They Made It To the Top, to be published by HarperCollins on April 10, 2007. In an unusual twist on the norm, the play Talk Show Confidential inspired the book. The book includes interviews with 44 leaders in their fields, and focuses on the stories of personal empowerment behind their individual successes. Like the stage show, Talk Show Confidential, the book uses candid interviews with celebrities and storytelling to give an inside glimpse into aspects of personal discipline, determination, mentors, education, timing, as well as strength in the face of set backs and adversity.
Talk Show Confidential is a mixed-media comedic and inspirational stage show with music, videos, photos, and Boggs on stage. The show is the first-ever theatrical production dealing with TV talk shows. Boggs has hosted several talk shows and has amassed interviews with over 8000 people. Talk Show Confidential was developed in 2003 with a grant from the fabled John Houseman Theater. It's been running at the Triad, 158 West 72nd Street, for more than two years.
A commercial production of Talk Show Confidential is planned for the fall of 2007.
In his book, Got What It Takes? Bill interviews leaders from numerous fields in-depth and in person, including Joe Torre, Mark Burnett, Renee Zellweger, Matt Lauer, Diane Von Furstenberg, Sir Richard Branson, James Blake, and Jim Cramer. Many portions of Got What It Takes? are anecdotes from Bill's own personal experience over the years that are included in Talk Show Confidential, and have been honed over the show's three-year run.
