Producer Erik Kaiko and Columbia University's Theatre Management & Producing MFA program present the world premiere production of Select Sections from the Heart: a word cycle by Tabia Lau (Playwriting '15), directed by Maridee Slater (Directing '15), with dramaturgy by Cameron Jefts (Dramaturgy '15).
The project began as a collaboration between several Columbia University School of the Arts Theatre Program graduate students, including graphic designer Lynn Spector (Dramaturgy '15) and has grown to include many other artists from around the city. Our team also consists of stage manager Jon Friestedt, costume designer Jen Hebner, and music consultant Joel Esher. Select Sections features an incredible cast of seven actors: Anna Dart, Charity Farrell, Virginia Logan, Tara Pacheco, Sam Reeder, Phillip Sheridan, and Evan Sokal.
Inspired from a summer of song cycle musicals, Select Sections from the Heart is a word cycle: a compilation of vignettes arranged for an engaging and creative ensemble, revolving around the topic of bottling in and letting it out.
The school will be presenting Select Sections in the Austin E. Quigley Black Box Theater in Lerner Hall at Columbia University. This intimate 99-seat space on the 5th floor of the student center provides a clean canvas for our story, and is also completely wheelchair-accessible.
The showtimes are: Tonight, July 26 at 7:00 pm, Saturday July 27 at 7:00 pm, and Sunday July 28 at 3:00 pm. Runtime is a little over an hour without an intermission. For more information, feel free to visit the show online through the following links:
