Jessie Bear and Stefan Hartmann are proud to present Type What Now as part of the 19th annual New York International Fringe Festival - FringeNYC. Type What Now is based on Jessie's wildly popular blog of the same name (www.typewhatnow.com), which she started after a life-changing diagnosis.
Type What Now confronts issues of chronic illness, body image, and the confusing and often conflicting ideas of "health" in society. It also highlights the funny side of what happens when your body murders its pancreas. Type What Now weaves together monologue, animated multimedia science lessons, and dark dramedy to tell a deeply personal story and let you know that, when it comes to your body, you're probably doing a lot better than you let yourself believe.
Type What Now is created, written, produced, and performed by Jessie Bear. Jessie is a NYC-based playwright who is the founder and co-artistic producer of This is Not A Theatre Company (with Erin Mee), whose four critically-acclaimed world premieres include Pool Play, a play in a pool, A Serious Banquet, a cubist-themed immersive dinner party based on a 1908 event thrown by Pablo Picasso, Ferry Play, a smartphone play for the Staten Island Ferry, and Readymade Cabaret. Her work has been featured in American Theatre Magazine and supported by the Lower Manhattan Cultural Council, Theaterlab, and the Swarthmore Project in Theater, among others. Type What Now is directed by Stefan Hartmann, creator and director of the popular webseries "The Outreach".
Type What Now also features Anne Flowers, art design by Sebastian Moya, and original compositions by Stephen Bennett.
