The Tony nominated star of the hit musical HAIR, injured his ankle during the number "I've Got Life." He suffered the injury at yesterday's matinee performance of the Tony winning revival at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre.
Creel announced via his "Twitter" page that he was "off his feet" by posting this message;

The actor was out of the second act of the show. His understudy Paris Remillard took his place in the leading role of Claude. Remillard will essay the role for the next number of performances. There is no official word on how long he will need to heal before he returns to the production. All of us here at BroadwayWorld wish him a speedy return.
Gavin Creel received a TONY nomination for Best Actor in a Musical for his portrayal as "Claude" in the hit musical HAIR as well as for his role as "Jimmy" in THOROUGHLY MODERN MILLIE. The new Broadway production of HAIR is the winner of the 2009 Tony Award for Best Revival of a Musical. The Drama Desk, Drama League, and Outer Critics Circle also recently honored the production with their 2009 award for Outstanding Revival of a Musical.
