Back in June of 2015, when Lin-Manuel Miranda's HAMILTON was merely a sold-out Public Theater hit preparing a transfer to Broadway, the United States Treasury Department announced intentions to redesign the country's $10 bill, currently graced by a portrait of the man Miranda's lyric describes as "the ten-dollar founding father," in order to honor a famous American woman.

While honoring an American woman is certainly an fine intention, many objected to ousting the country's first Secretary of The Treasury, suggesting that, instead, President Andrew Jackson should be removed from the $20, given his genocidal policies toward Native Americans.

While the HAMILTON star and author was in Washington D.C. earlier this week, performing selections from his show at The White House with cast-mates, freestyling with President Barack Obama and making an impassioned speech calling for legislation to help Puerto Rico out of its current financial crisis, he also was the guest of United States Secretary of Treasury, Jacob Lew. A Twitter follower asked if they discussed keeping Alexander Hamilton on the $10 bill and the following exchange took place:

As reported by The New York Times, when asked about Miranda's comments, a Treasury spokesperson responded with the following statement:

"On Monday, Secretary Lew welcomed Lin-Manuel Miranda to the U.S. Department of the Treasury. The Secretary and Miranda talked about the enduring mark Alexander Hamilton left on our nation's history, and the Secretary provided a brief tour of Hamilton's possessions and portraits on display at the Treasury Department.

"The Secretary thanked Miranda for the ingenious way in which he has been able to tell Hamilton's story and ignite a renewed interest in one of our nation's founding fathers. Secretary Lew also reiterated his commitment to continue to honor Alexander Hamilton on the 10 dollar bill."
