As FIDDLER ON THE ROOF's Hodel, Samantha Massell takes a firm stand demanding her rights when it comes to choosing a husband.
During intermission of this past Sunday's matinee, the actor took a firm stand on Twitter to admonish an audience member who was using his iPhone to video record the performance.
While there's no indication that the offending party committing the illegal action read her tweet, there were other readers who responded to defend the taping of Broadway shows and Massell responded accordingly. Lending support to her fellow cast member was Jessica Vosk, who plays the pearl-clutching Fruma-Sarah.
The entire exchange can be read below:
To the gentleman in the third row BLATANTLY filming our whole show on his iPhone. Shame on you! Where's Patti LuPone when you need her?

I DEEPLY appreciate that, but live theatre is LIVE for a reason. I'm NOT paid extra when my work appears on youtube. https://t.co/AfZvs9U0EW

The distraction, while annoying is NOT the issue. The issue is that filming a live show is THEFT. https://t.co/sxLMmZRNOl

My creation was stolen. As was the creation of everyone on our stage tonight. https://t.co/EMlXUb3HxK

So apparently there was a dude filming our show tonight. It would be appropriate if I choked him instead of Tevye with my pearls yes? #Fruma
