Musical theatre licensor Theatrical Rights Worldwide (TRW) is presenting a private industry reading of the Broadway musical adaptation of the iconic film SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER, on Thursday, February 19th, in midtown Manhattan. Directed by Victoria Bussert, the reading features Corey Mach (Hands on a Hardbody) as Tony, Shannon O'Boyle (Once) as Stephanie, and Donna English (Nice Work If You Can Get It) as Flo. The cast also includes Mack Shirilla, Jude McCormick (The Visit), Chris Cowan, Anthony Sagaria, Wilson Bridges, Jay Ellis, Ray DeMattis (Grease), Cole Burden, Caitlin Houlahan (Peter Pan Live!), Libby Servais (Wicked), Anne Brummel (Wicked), and Sainty Nelsen (ABC's All My Children).
TRW recently acquired the brand for representation in North America. The musical played Broadway's Minskoff Theatre for over 500 performances in 1999-2000. Until TRW's recent agreement with the Robert Stigwood Organization (RSO) to represent stock and amateur performance rights, the show had not been available for other than national tours.
SATURDAY NIGHT FEVER THE MUSICAL is based on Nik Cohn's 1975 New York Magazine article, "Tribal Rites of the New Saturday Night," and Norman Wexler's 1977 film, featuring music by the Bee Gees. It is the story of a talented, streetwise kid from Brooklyn with a gift for dancing but dreams of something bigger. The show includes many disco-era hits by the Bee Gees and other artists.
Following the reading, the newly written book and score will be made available to theatres across the continent, exclusively through TRW.
