According to Deadline, TRUE BLOOD's James Frain has signed on as a series regular -- and a new villain -- for FOX's GOTHAM season 2. The actor will play 'Theo Galavan'.

Described as "billionaire industrialist," Galavan is "a new Gotham arrival" and "the savior the city has been waiting for -- he is sexy, heroic, and lovingly devoted to his sister Tabitha...But behind Galavan's altruism is a centuries-old vendetta. Galavan and Tabitha (aka Tigress) will take chaos and violence to a new level in order to bleed Gotham. Their plan will lead to the creation of new villains... and the destruction of others."

Aside from TRUE BLOOD, Frain has appeared on TV in TRUE DETECTIVE, ORPHAN BLACK, AGENT CARTER, INTRUDERS, GRIMM, THE WHITE QUEEN, THE CAPE, THE TUDORS, INVASION, 24, and more.

The actor appeared on Broadway in 2007's award-winning THE HOMECOMING. Frain has also taken the stage for the RSC, the Royal Court and in the West End.

About GOTHAM:

GOTHAM is an origin story of the great DC Comics Super-Villains and vigilantes, revealing an entirely new chapter that has never been told. From executive producer/writer Bruno Heller ("The Mentalist," "Rome"), GOTHAM follows one cop's rise through a dangerously corrupt city teetering between good and evil, and chronicles the birth of one of the most popular super heroes of our time. The series stars Ben McKenzie ("Southland," "The O.C."), Donal Logue ("Vikings," "Sons of Anarchy"), Jada Pinkett Smith ("Hawthorne," "Collateral") and Robin Lord Taylor ("The Walking Dead").

JAMES GORDON (McKenzie) is several months into his new job as a Gotham City detective. Partnered with the brash, but shrewd police legend HARVEY BULLOCK (Logue), the two have confronted gang bosses, mob kingpins and many of the characters who will become some of pop culture's most renowned, enduring villains.

The crime drama follows Gordon's turbulent and singular rise through the Gotham City police department, while also focusing on the friendship Gordon forms with the young heir (David Mazouz, "Touch") to the Wayne fortune. It is a friendship that will last them all of their lives, playing a crucial role in helping the boy eventually become the crusader he's destined to be.
