TRU Invites Actors To Register For TRU Audition Event 4/4-5

Actors Connection, Bluface Photography, The Network, The Barrow Group Theatre Company, Actors Access, Samuel French Co., Weist Barron, Precision Photos Plus, The Players Theatre and Back Stage present The 2009 TRU AUDITION EVENT April 4-5, 2009

Theater Resources Unlimited (TRU) invites actors to register for the annual TRU Audition Event, attended by more than 40 NY-area theatre companies, directors, and producers, Equity and non-Equity producing companies, and other individuals, including casting directors and agents.

The TRU Voices Reading Series will also be cast at this event. The 2009 TRU Audition Event will be held on April 4-5, 2009 from 10am - 6pm at the Barrow Group TBG Theatre, 312 W. 36th Street, 3rd floor, NYC. Seeking male and female actors, all types, ages, and ethnicities.

"The purpose of the event is to offer small theater companies and independent producers a casting call in which they get to see people for their current needs as well as to build their resume files for the future. We know that companies who use our audition keep the actors on file and call them in throughout the year and even longer," said Bob Ost, executive director of TRU.

Productions, E/motion theatre, Glass Slipper, Golden Fleece, The Harmony Entertainment Group, Highwire Theatre Co., Hudson River Repertory, Jupiter Theatre, Korine Venture Group, Kramis Productions, Lookingglass Theater, Love Street Theatre, Midtown Int'l Theatre Festival, Milk Can Theatre, Musical Mondays, M&M Productions Acting Co., Mystery & Mayhem, Orielle Creative Co., Origin Theatre Co., Pulse Ensemble Theatre, Random Arts, Rising Sun Performance Co., Robert Sherrill (Gayfest/Pit Bull Productions/White Plains Performing Arts Center), Small Pond Entertainment, The Story Line Project, Theatre in a Trunk, Threshhold Theatre Co, TOSOS (The Other Side of Silence), Turtle Shell Productions, The WorkShop Theater, Triangle Theatre, TRU Voices Reading Series, Wild Bird Productions, Wildly Productive Productions plus TRU member directors and writers. The 2009 TRU Audition Event is presented with sponsorship from Bluface Photography, The Network, The Barrow Group Theatre Company, Actors Access, Samuel French Co., Weist Barron, Precision Photos Plus, The Players Theatre and Back Stage.

Auditions will be held on April 4-5 from 10am to 6pm at the Barrow Group TBG Theatre, 312 W. 36th Street, 3rd floor, NYC. Actors will be given two minutes to perform two monologues or a monologue and a song. (Accompanist provided on April 5 only.)

Registration fee is $45 (postmarked before February 28) and $60 after February 28. All Equity actors receive a $5 discount. Pay situations and Equity/non-Equity contracts vary.

TRU is a not-for-profit service organization that provides educational and support services for the performing arts with a focus on the business side of the arts. In particular, TRU helps producers, theater companies and self-producing artists navigate the business of making theater in the New York area and beyond, as well as providing networking opportunities. Programs include monthly educational panels, a play and musical developmental reading series, producer mentorships, Producer Boot Camp business workshops, an annual combined audition event, free workshops for actor members and a community newsletter of services, good, opportunities, ticket discounts and more. TRU also maintains a referral database of over 5000 arts professionals.
