THREE ONE ACTS by Coen, Allen & May Heads to Broadway this September; Turturro Directs

Producers Julian Schlossberg and Letty Aronson are proud to announce that the world premiere production of RELATIVELY SPEAKING, three one-act comedies by the prolific writing trio of Ethan Coen, Elaine May and Woody Allen, directed by John Turturro, will arrive on Broadway this fall.

RELATIVELY SPEAKING will begin previews in September for an official opening in October.

Academy Award® winning filmmaker Ethan Coen makes his Broadway debut after making his Off-Broadway bow as a playwright with the sold out world premiere of Almost an Evening, and his world premiere hit comedy Offices the following season. Two-time Academy Award® nominated screenwriter and Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle award winning playwright Elaine May reunites with producer Julian Schlossberg, with whom she collaborated on her plays Death Defying Acts, After the Night and the Music, Taller Than a Dwarf, Adult Entertainment and Power Plays starring Alan Arkin. Woody Allen returns to the New York stage as a playwright following the world premiere productions of his plays Writer's Block and A Second Hand Memory Off-Broadway.

Emmy Award winner and Golden Globe® Award nominated actor John Turturro made his Broadway debut in the play LifeX3 and will make his Broadway bow as a director. He has enjoyed a long time collaboration with Ethan Coen, appearing in his films Miller's Crossing, Barton Fink, The Big Lebowski and O Brother, Where Art Thou?. He produced, directed, and starred in the film Illuminata and wrote and directed the feature film Romance and Cigarettes. Most recently, he directed Passione which premiered at the Venice Film Festival this past year and opens across the country this summer.

JOHN TURTURRO (Director). Stage credits include "Estragon" in Waiting for Godot, the title role in The Resistable Rise of Arturo Ui, Italian-American Reconciliation, La Puta Vida, The Bald Soprano, Troilus and Cressida, Steel on Steel, and Danny and the Deep Blue Sea (OBIE and Theatre World Award). Film credits include Five Corners, Do The Right Thing, Miller's Crossing, Jungle Fever, Barton Fink (Best Actor 1991 Cannes Film Festival, David diDonatello Award), Quiz Show (Golden Globe and SAG Award nomination), Grace of my Heart, Mac (co-writer and director - Camera d'Or at the 1992 Cannes film festival), The Truce, The Big Lebowski, Box of Moonlight, The Cradle Will Rock, Illuminata (co-writer, director and producer), Oh Brother, Where Art Thou?, The Luzhin Defence, Monday Night Mayhem (SAG Award nomination), Mr. Deeds, and The Taking of Pelham 1 2 3. Upcoming films include Transformers 3 and Cars 2. John has studied with Robert X. Modica and is a graduate of SUNY New Paltz and the Yale School of Drama.

ETHAN COEN's (Playwright) two previous plays are Almost an Evening and Offices, both of them evenings of one-acts produced by the Atlantic Theater Company and directed by Neil Pepe. Ethan Coen has written a collection of stories, Gates of Eden, and a collection of poems, The Drunken Driver Has the Right of Way. With his brother, Joel, he has made fifteen movies including Blood Simple, Raising Arizona, Miller's Crossing, Barton Fink, The Hudsucker Proxy, Fargo, The Big Lebowski, O Brother, Where Art Thou?, The Man Who Wasn't There, Burn after Reading, A Serious Man, and adaptations of Cormac McCarthy's No Country for Old Men and Charles Portis's True Grit.

ELAINE MAY (Playwright) began in Second City, where she formed a successful partnership with Mike Nichols. The two appeared in clubs, on TV and Broadway. Ms. May earned a Drama Desk Award for her play Adaptation, a one-act which she directed along with Terrence McNally's Next. She wrote, directed and starred in her first film, A New Leaf, with Walter Matthau. She wrote and directed Mikey & Nicky, starring Peter Falk and John Cassavetes. She directed The Heartbreak Kid, wrote and directed Ishtar and received an Oscar nomination for the screenplay of Heaven Can Wait. Ms. May's acting credits in film include Small Time Crooks, California Suite, Enter Laughing and In the Spirit. She reunited with Mike Nichols to write screenplays for The Birdcage and Primary Colors (British Academy Award) and joined with In the Spirit producer Julian Schlossberg to do Death Defying Acts, After the Night and the Music, Taller Than a Dwarf, Adult Entertainment and Power Plays in which she appeared with Alan Arkin.

WOODY ALLEN (Playwright) has written and directed in the theater on a number of occasions, his projects include: Death Defying Acts and Writer's Block amongst others.
