The newest Tony Award hopeful of the 2014-2015 Broadway season has arrived at the Brooks Atkinson Theatre! LOVE LETTERS, starring Mia Farrow and Brian Dennehy, tells the story of two friends and their lifetimes of exchanging notes, letters, and everything in between with each other. This production will cycle out casts regularly, so audiences can look forward to seeing the performances of Angelica Huston, Martin Sheen, Alan Alda, Carol Burnett, and many more in the next few months. The PigPen Theatre Company may have begun a new tradition earlier this week with their unprecedented, one-day only live performance on 42nd Street, entertaining unsuspecting crowds who were lucky enough to be walking by. The group also entertained crowds in areas beyond the theatre district, such as the Highline, the New York Public Library, and the subway. Donald Marguelis's new play THE COUNTRY HOUSE has officially begun preview performances through Manhattan Theatre Club. Set to open on Broadway on Thursday, October 2nd, the production stars Tony and Emmy Award winner Blythe Danner as the matriarch of a group of creative artists, famous and otherwise, visiting the Williamstown Theatre Festival in the Berkshires. After its extremely successful beginning in the West End, THE CURIOUS INCIDENT OF THE DOG IN THE NIGHTTIME has finally made its way to the Great White Way. Currently in previews at the Barrymore Theatre, the show will make its official opening on Sunday, October 5th. Dame Angela Lansbury, winner of five Tony Awards, four Golden Globe Awards, and an Honorary Oscar for her extraordinary seventy-five year career, was honored earlier this week at the American Theatre Wing's annual gala. The gala, which was held at the Plaza Hotel, celebrated the Ms. Lansbury's legendary talented, as well as her position as Honorary Chairman of the American Theatre Wing Board of Trustees, a position that she has held since 2010. This Monday, an all-star cast came together at Broadway's Gershwin Theatre to celebrate Global Equality Night, in UPRISING OF LOVE. Cast members included Patti LuPone, Sting, Lena Hall, Billy Porter, and many more. Tony nominee Stephanie J. In anticipation of her new album, Broadway legend Barbra Streisand joined Jimmy Fallon on the Tonight Show this week for a special performance. Her album PARTNERS was released by Columbia Records on September 16th and features a dozen duets with famous male vocalists. For the first time in history, Disney's BEAUTY AND THE BEAST is launching an international tour. Opening in October, the show will be performed in English. It will begin in Istanbul, and from there will travel to Kazakhstan, United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Philippines, Thailand and Indonesia. Earlier this week, a tribute to the late Elaine Stritch was held at Broadway's Supper Club, 54 Below, with an all-star cast, including Christine Ebersole, Beth Leavel, Jeremy Benton, Harriet Harris, and many more. Directed by Eric Ulloa with musical direction by John McDaniel, RISE, RISE, RISE featured a compilation of songs that the Broadway legend had sung or made famous during her incredible career in entertainment.
