Tony Winner Billy Porter's play WHILE I YET LIVE officially opened Off-Broadway earlier this week at Primary Stages at the Duke on 42nd Street. A reflection of his own life experiences and the relationships he had with his mother, sister, and other influential women in his life, WHILE I YET LIVE is directed by Tony Award nominee Sheryl Kaller and stars S. Epatha Merkerson, Lillias White, Elain Graham, and several more talented actors. Click here to see more coverage of the opening night bows!

The cast of HONEYMOON IN VEGAS hit the recording studio this week to make their original cast recording, and BroadwayWorld was there to see all of the action! Set to open at the Nederlander Theatre this winter, HONEYMOON IN VEGAS is Tony winner Jason Robert Brown's latest undertaking, featuring music and lyrics by him. The show will begin previews in mid-November with an official opening on Thursday, January 15th. Click here to see more behind-the-scenes coverage of the recording session!

The legendary Broadway musical GYPSY is currently being revived in Chichester starring Olivier Award Winner and Oscar nominee Imelda Staunton as Rose. Considered by many the perfect musical, it features lyrics by Stephen Sondheim. Staunton has also played the iconic role of Mrs. Lovett in "Sweeney Todd," another Sondheim classic. Both her performances as Mrs. Lovett and Rose were under the direction of Jonathan Kent. Click here to see more coverage of Staunton in this huge undertaking!

Atlantic Theatre Company officially opened its season this week with original musical FOUND. With music and lyrics by Eli Bolin and a book by Hunter Bell and Lee Overtree, FOUND tells the story of three best friends who go on a journey that is led by letters and notes that they find along the way. The musical is running in a limited engagement through Sunday, November 9th at the Linda Gross Theatre. Click here to see more photos from opening night!

The Roundabout Theatre Company released a first look at this fall's production of Tom Stoppard's THE REAL THING, which is set to open on Thursday, October 30th at the American Airlines Theatre. Starring Maggie Gyllenhaal and Ewan McGregor in their Broadway debuts, THE REAL THING is resurfacing after its acclaimed debut thirty years ago, during which it won the Tony Award for Best Play. This fall's original musical THE LAST SHIP, written by Sting as his Broadway composing debut, received a very special visit from the legendary Bruce Springsteen and his daughter earlier this week! Springsteen hung out backstage with the cast, and Sting himself was there for the visit. The Last Ship is scheduled to open on October 26th, and is currently in previews at the Neil Simon Theatre. With an extremely talented creative team, complete with director Joe Mantello, choreographer Steven Hoggett, and book writers Brian Yorkey and John Logan, the musical is sure to be a hit. 2014 Tony Winner Neil Patrick Harris has had an exciting week: he was officially announced as the 2015 Oscars host, and his autobiography was released! His book is a choose-your-own-adventure book entitled Choose Your Own Autobiography, in which the reader actually is Neil Patrick Harris himself, and can choose which roads of his life to follow. Harris did a book signing at Barnes and Noble at Union Square to celebrate the release, moderated by the original Hedwig: John Cameron Mitchell. Click here for more photos of the signing!

A new Hedwig has taken over the Belasco Theatre - Golden Globe and Drama Desk Winner Michael C. Hall began performances as the title character in HEDWIG AND THE ANGRY INCH on Broadway last night! Hall joins Tony Winner Lena Hall (Yitzhak) and Tits of Clay, the show's band. Hall is scheduled to fill Hedwig's heels through January 4th. Click here to see the rest of the first look at Michael C. The Tony nominated musical THE SCOTTSBORO BOYS is officially playing in the West End! With a cast that includes many of the original Broadway cast members, such as Brandon Victor Dixon, Colman Domingo, Julian Glover, and more, the musical tells the true story of nine young African-Americans who are wrongly accused of rape while traveling through Alabama in search of a new start. This fall's stunning revival of ON THE TOWN opened last night, October 16th, at the newly named Lyric Theatre. Garnering rave reviews from critics and audiences alike, the talented cast had much to celebrate. The production is led by Tony Yazbeck, Jay Armstrong Johnson, and Clyde Alves as three sailors who have the privilege of spending twenty-four hours in New York, New York - and they prove that it indeed is a helluva town.
