Christian Borle, who won a 2012 Tony Award for his role as 'Black Stache' in PETER AND THE STARCATCHER, departed his role for the filming of season two of NBC's SMASH on Saturday night. Taking over the role is Matt Saldivar. Matthew Saldivar has been seen on Broadway as Steve in A STREETCAR NAMED DESIRE, Sammy in THE WEDDING SINGER and Kenickie in GREASE. ITV1 recently released some sneak peek SUPERSTAR audition photos, featuring hopeful actors on stage, Andrew Lloyd Webber scrutinizing the action, and David Grindrod, Melanie C and Jason Donovan helping to narrow down the pool of potential leading men during callbacks. SUPERSTAR is described as "a brand new show that will give the British public the chance to choose the country’s next major rock star." Click here for more photos from the auditions!

On July 3, the Broadway company of JERSEY BOYS welcomed back John Lloyd Young, who created the role of Frankie Valli in the original Broadway company and on the Grammy-winning, platinum cast album. For his performance, Mr. Young won Tony, Drama Desk and Outer Critics Circle Award for Leading Actor in a Musical and a Theatre World Award. Check out photos from his return to the show here.

On July 3rd, New York Musical Theatre Festival (NYMF) presented a special preview of the 2012 featuring musical selections from: Rio, Stand Tall, Himself & Nora, Trouble, Stealing Time, Arnie the Doughnut, Foreverman, A Letter to Harvey Milk and The Groove Factory. The event, hosted by GODSPELL's Corbin Bleu, featured Isaac Robert Hurwitz, Leslie Kritzer, Matt Bogart, Natalie Toro, Jeremy Kushnier, Tom Deckman, Adam Monley, Danny Quadrino, Jennifer Wren, J.Manuel Santos and more. Second StageTheatre presents the world premiere musical, DOGFIGHT. Previews began June 27 in anticipation of a July 16 opening. The cast features Nick Blaemire (Godspell), Annaleigh Ashford (Rent, Wicked, Legally Blonde), Becca Ayers (The Addams Family, Avenue Q), Steven Booth (Glory Days), Dierdre Friel (Leap of Faith), Adam Halpin (Glory Days), F. Michael Haynie (Carrie), Derek Klena (Carrie), Lindsay Mendez (Godspell,Second Stage’s Everyday Rapture), James Moye (Million Dollar Quartet), and Josh Segarra (Lysistrata Jones). The Geffen Playhouse’s world premiere stage adaptation of The Exorcist features Brooke Shields and Richard Chamberlain in the iconic roles of Chris MacNeil and Father Merrin, respectively, as well as Broadway actor David WilsonBarnes as the troubled young priest Father Damien Karras, Tony Award nominee Harry Groener takes on the role of Chris’ charismatic director Burke Dennings and UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television graduate Emily Yetter plays the young Regan MacNeil. On July 4, Washington DC was host the annual A CAPITOL FOURTH concert, broadcast on PBS. The concert featured Broadway's own two-time Tony Award winner Matthew Broderick performing songs from the hit Broadway musical NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT with four-time Tony nominee Kelli O'Hara; acclaimed Broadway and television star Megan Hilty (SMASH); and more! On June 28, Tony's di Napoli Restaurant in Times Square added a new portrait to their outstanding Broadway Wall of Fame honoring the cast of the new Broadway musical, NICE WORK IF YOU CAN GET IT, starring Matthew Broderick, Kelli O'Hara, Michael McGrath, Judy Kaye, Estelle Parsons, Chris Sullivan and Jennifer Laura Thompson. Hosts Valerie Smaldone and Bruce Dimpflmaier presented the Dan May portrait to the show's stars in an intimate ceremony, and you can check out more photos here!

Potted Potter: The Unauthorized Harry Experience – A Parody by Dan and Jeff rang the NASDAQ Closing Bell yesterday, July 5th, at the NASDAQ MarketSite, 4 Times Square.
