The Hollywood Bowl's production of HAIRSPRAY took place last weekend, and reunited original Broadway stars Harvey Fierstein and Marissa Jaret Winokur. Philly's Broadway dreams will came true for the third consecutive summer when The Broadway Dreams Foundation (BDF) partnered with The Kimmel Center for the Performing Arts to present their Summer Performing Arts Intensive August 1 through Sunday, August 7, 2011. The True Colors concert featured performances from Andrea McArdle, Eden Espinosa, Titus Burgess, and many more. Check out full coverage of the event here!

Starring Audra McDonald, Norm Lewis and more, A.R.T. American Repertory Theater (A.R.T.) opens its 2011-12 season with The Gershwins' Porgy and Bess, by George Gershwin, DuBose and Dorothy Heyward, and Ira Gershwin. The adaptation by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks and Obie Award-winning composer Diedre L. Murray, directed by A.R.T. Artistic Director Diane Paulus, with choreography by Ronald K. Brown, begins previews on August 17 and opens for the reviewing press on August 31 at 7pm. The cast of Paper Mill Playhouse's premiere of a new Disney stage musical, Newsies will feature Jeremy Jordan as Jack Kelly and Tony® Award nominee John Dossett as newspaper giant Joseph Pulitzer. HAIR Tribe: Peter James Zielinski
Cast members from the critically acclaimed first national tour of HAIR: The American Tribal Love-Rock Musical, now on Broadway at the St. James Theatre for a "Summer of Love" run, held another "Be-In" performance to benefit Broadway Impact on August 7th at the Cooper Square Hotel Penthouse (25 Cooper Square, 3rd Avenue between 5th and 6th Streets). As part of the Joe's Pub Summer Salon Series, the concert featured songs from HAIR, along with original songs and cast favorites. Click here for full coverage of the Be-In!

The cast of MCC Theater's Submission, starring Jonathan Groff, Will Rogers, Eddie Kaye Thomas and Rutina Wesley met the press on August 8. The production will be directed by Tony Award-Winner Walter Bobbie (School for Lies, Chicago). Performances begin at the Lucille Lortel Theatre (121 Christopher Street, NYC) on September 8, 2011 and continue through October 22, 2011. An official opening is set for September 26, 2011. Eugene O'Neill's epic Pulitzer Award-winning play about love and forgiveness charts one woman's longing to forget the dark secrets of her past and hope for salvation. ANNA CHRISTIE, ss well as presenting at least six productions a year at its home in Covent Garden, is currently playing at the UK's Donmar Warehouse, and stars Jude Law and Ruth Wilson. Roundabout Theatre Company (Todd Haimes, Artistic Director), presents three-time Tony Award® winner Frank Langella as "Gregor Antonescu" in Terence Rattigan's drama Man and Boy, directed by Maria Aitken. The cast of the show met the press on August 9. The cast will also feature Adam Driver as "Basil Anthony", Francesca Faridany as "Countess Antonescu", Zach Grenier as "Mark Herries", Brian Hutchison as "David Beeston", Virginia Kull as "Carol Penn", Michael Siberry as "Sven Johnson". The best of Broadway was presented free on six consecutive Thursdays this summer with "106.7 Lite fm's Broadway in Bryant Park 2011" - a lunchtime series that began on Thursday July 7th on the Bryant Park Stage. Sponsored by Bank of America, and Clean Air NY, and hosted by Lite fm's on-air personalities, the eleventh annual presentation of open-air, On- and Off- Broadway lunch hour performances concluded yesterday, August 11th, and featured performances by the casts of MARY POPPINS, MAMMA MIA!, AVENUE Q, and PRISCILLA QUEEN OF THE DESERT. Oanh Nguyen will direct The Old Globe's revival of Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show. The classic cult musical with book, music and lyrics by Richard O'Brien, will feature choreography by JT Horenstein and music direction by Mike Wilkins and the talents of Broadway veteran James Barbour. The Rocky Horror Show will run in the Old Globe Theatre, part of the Globe's Conrad Prebys Theatre Center, Sept. 15 - Nov. 6. Nora Ephron and Delia Ephron's hit Off Broadway show, Love, Loss, and What I Wore, welcomed its newest cast last night, August 12, with a celebration immediately following the 8:00 PM performance. Love, Loss, and What I Wore's newest cast members include: Marylouise Burke(HBO's "Hung"), Emmanuelle Chriqui (HBO's "Entourage"), Ann Harada (Avenue Q), Roslyn Ruff (The Help) and Yeardley Smith ("The Simpsons"). The new, off-Broadway production of RENT opened last night Thursday, August 11 at New World Stages.
