Samantha Sturm, Lauren Ward & Company
In MATILDA's S.I.P, they said goodbye (or tried not to, at least) to Lauren Ward, who exited MATILDA this week. Samantha Sturm, who tweeted the picture, captioned the picture saying "We want ALL the Honey!". Lauren Ward's last performance was Sunday, September 1st. David Frost died this week aboard the Queen Elizabeth cruise ship at the age of 74. He is best known for his interview with President Nixon, which inspired the play and eventual movie, Frost/Nixon. BroadwayWorld remembers this acclaimed journalist here.

The new musical LADY DAY starring Dee Dee Bridgewater started previews this week. Coming over from the West End, it earned critical fame as well as an Olivier nomination for Ms. Bridgewater. The show is set to open October 3rd and you can find out more information about it here.

West End celebrated West End Bares this past week, with a fun fair theme titled "All the Fund of the Bare. Big names in UK fame, including customized pants from charity supporters such as Kate Winslet, Joanna Lumley and Graham Norton which were auctioned for The Make A Difference Trust.
Nikki Davis-Jones and Emily Tierney
Production photos of the UK WICKED Tour were released, showing Nikki Davis-Jones as Elphaba, Emily Tierney as Glinda, and Liam Doyle as Fiyero. The tour will visit cities in the UK as well as Ireland, and will run through 2015, though not all dates have been announced yet. Wicked is currently the 16th longest running show on the West End. THE LANDING, a new musical about desire, love, and loss, and John Kander's first full new theatre collaboration since the death of Fred Ebb, began rehearsals this week in preparation for it's first preview October 3rd, and opening night on October 23rd at the Vineyard Theatre. The cast, which features Paul Anthony Stewart, Frankie Seratch, Greg Pierce, Julia Murney, and David Hyde Pierce, met the press for the first time this week. La Toya Jackson joined the off-Broadway smash hit, NEWSical the Musical for one week only. Jackson is one of many celebrities that have joined this parody musical, which plays at Theatre Row on 42nd street. You can see more photos of the NEWSical cast here.

On Wednesday, September 4th, Cinderella saw it's first same sex propsoal on stage after final bow. The couple from San Diego had been together, and part of the proposal speech included Kunal Ghose saying to now-fiancé, Jason Aronne, "Growing up in India you don't hear many western stories but you do read Cinderella and it left a lasting impression of finding "happily ever after" on me. This would be a best place to start our happily ever after like Cinderella and her Prince." Congrats to the couple! You can find more pictures from the proposal here.
