THEATER TALK remembers actor Alan Rickman -- who died this week at age 69 -- with CUNY TV rebroadcasts of a 2012 interview about Theresa Rebeck's play SEMINAR, in which the actor starred at the Golden Theatre.
Rickman is on the joined on the program by writer Rebeck and two of his co-stars, Lily Rabe and Hamish Linklater.
In the play, Rickman portrayed a demanding writing teacher, with Rabe and Linklater as two of his pupils. Critics debated whether his character seemed more sadistic or tragic. Rickman stated, "Theresa's written an 18th-century comedy, with all those difficulties of language. It requires enormous concentration ... Theater is like a religion - you become aware of what a responsibility it is. It's getting tougher."
SEMINAR marked Rickman's final Broadway appearance.
Co-hosted by Michael Riedel of the New York Post and Susan Haskins, the Alan Rickman edition of THEATER TALK will be rebroadcast on CUNY TV at special times: Friday, January 15 (2016) at 8 PM; Saturday 1/16 at 5:30 PM and Sunday 1/17 at 3:30 PM on CUNY TV.
