THEATER TALK welcomes actor and writer Jesse Eisenberg on Friday, April 12, 2013 at 1 AM (Saturday morning) on Thirteen/PBS, and repeating in New York City on CUNY TV* Saturday at 8:30 PM, Sunday at 12:30 PM, and Monday at 7:30 AM, 1:30 PM, and 7:30 PM. Eisenberg is the author of the current SRO off-Broadway play, The Revisionist. He also appears in it as a narcissistic young American writer who, in an effort to overcome writers block, travels to Poland to visit a distant and aging cousin, played by the great Vanessa Redgrave.
Eisenberg, who was born in Queens and earned an Academy Award nomination for Best Actor in The Social Network, straight-forwardly shares with Theater Talk's co-hosts, Michael Riedel of the New York Post and producer Susan Haskins, about his early career and how he moved himself from children's theater (which he didn't like) to grown-up theater and film by age 14. He also discusses the inspiration for writing The Revisionist and how he was subsequently able to get one of the world's foremost actresses to appear in it. He also self-effacingly reveals odd and interesting facts about himself, including why he refuses to ever watch any of the movies he has appeared in.
THEATER TALK is the weekly series dedicated to the world of the stage. The series is jointly produced by the not-for-profits Theater Talk Productions and CUNY TV. It is taped in the Himan Brown TV and Radio Studios at The City University of New York (CUNY) TV in Manhattan, and is distributed to 60+ participating public television markets nationwide. THEATER TALK is made possible in part by The New York State Council on the Arts, The New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, The TDF/TAP Plus Program, The CUNY TV Foundation and The Friends of THEATER TALK.
