In this second night in a row of action for NBC's the Voice, the eight remaining contestants were reduced to a mere four, as America picked the finalists for Season One of the competition. Without further ado, let's dive right into what went down in tonight's episode!

For those of us on the east coast, tonight's program was slightly delayed by an address by President Obama, but right afterwards, the episode started with a bang with a performance by the top eight. Looking snazzy as ever, the semi-finalists sang a tribute to George Michael in a mash-up of "Freedom" and "Faith," and surprisingly enough, all eight were granted plenty of solo time. For some of them, it would be their last time to sing for America!

The first elimination of the evening was a tough one indeed, with Vicci and Nakia both fighting for the same spot. Following the poetic reading of a Cee Lo original, we found out that their coach gave a slight edge to Nakia with his points last night, but that wasn't quite enough to put the big man through, as Vicci received more of America's votes. It's sad to see him go, but this ultimately feels just.

Next up on the chopping block was Team Adam- Casey and Javier. Adam told the contestants that he gave 35 points to Casey and 65 to Javier. Ouch. That's a tad harsh, Mr. Levine. America agreed with Adam's opinion, and Javier won his spot in the Finals next week. No surprises there- he rocked it last night.

Blake, who has quickly become a father-figure to his mentees, then revealed how he divvied up his 100 points last night, granting 50 points to both Xenia and Dia- a bold move indeed. His explanation: that he believed in them both equally. In perhaps the most predictable elimination of the night, we then learned that Dia would continue to next week's finals.

Team Christina then took the stage to find out who would get to perform again. This was truly a tough one for me, as I'm sure it was for many others. Christina then told her team that she played the same game as Blake in dividing her points evenly between Beverly and Frenchie. Carson then revealed that America favored Beverly, giving her a chance to sing on The Voice stage once more.

Yay! All of my picks from last night made it through!
