THE VOICE OF A GENERATION Exhibition to Launch 2018 Series at the Quin Image

The 2018 exhibition series at the Quin, located at 57th Street and Sixth Avenue, launches on January 11 with a London invasion from MTArt. Co-Curated by Quin Arts curator DK Johnston and MTArt's Marine Tanguy, the new exhibition is titled, "The Voice of a Generation," and features works by three remarkable UK-based artists: Alexandra Lethbridge, Jasmine Pradissitto and Tim A. Shaw.

As one might expect from a group show that includes an artist with a PHD in quantum physics, another spearheading art installations in hospitals, and a third whose research based-work provocatively blends fact with fiction, the mixed-media exhibition presents innovative works that challenge visitors' visual and conceptual perceptions of the world around them. Themes of illusion, intervention and shifting perspectives weave through the exhibition, which is on view in public areas throughout the Quin.

Alexandra Lethbridge is a photographer born in Hong Kong and now based in the UK. Found photographs, archival imagery and constructed images of her own making form the basis of her art. Drawing upon a range of references and source material, she combines science with fictional constructed images, bringing them together as a form of storytelling. Her practice deliberately mixes fact and fiction to create expanded views of the subject matter she explores. As we live in a world of images, from social media to advertising, Lethbridge asks viewers to question the images that we look at everyday.

In 2014, Lethbridge was shortlisted for the Paris Photo Aperture Foundation First PhotoBook Award for her first publication, The Meteorite Hunter. She has since been shortlisted for The Anamorphosis Prize for The Meteorite Hunter, a publication that is now part of MOMA's book collection. In 2017, Lethbridge was a selected finalist for the ING Unseen Talent Award, as well as a winner for various prizes such as Flash Forward Magenta Foundation Award, Format Festival Affinity Award and the Denton's Art Prize.

Her work has been exhibited widely, including recent exhibitions at Unseen Festival, Amsterdam, Fotofestiwal, Lodz, Cork Photo Festival, Ireland, Christie's Auction House, London, Circulations Festival, Paris, Encontros de Imagem Festival, Portugal, Pingyao International Photography Festival, China and PhotoUKIndia.

Jasmine Pradissitto is both a physicist and painter who creates "Quantum Sculptures" in light, plastic and metal. Born in Italy but now based in South London, Pradissitto earned a Ph.D. from the University of Central London with a focus on the Quantum behavior of silicon in fiber optics. She went on to study fine art at Goldsmiths College and Sir John Cass. She embraces the dual worlds of the physicist and artist, creating works she describes as "holograms you can touch." Jasmine's forms are inspired by nature and the human condition and interpreted through the lens of scientific research.

Pradissitto has had solo shows in London and Venice and has been shortlisted for various prizes including the Threadneedle and Celeste. She has worked in the Tokyo and Hove Museums and her works have sold to various private collectors and institutions. She continues to speak publicly about the power of creativity, play and connective thinking in aiding our transformation and reinventing ourselves in an increasingly automated 21st century world.

Tim A. Shaw is a London-based artist and co-founder of Hospital Rooms, a project introducing site-specific, museum quality artworks to mental health wards. A graduate of Central Saint Martins College of Art, Shaw creates immersive spaces that have an atmosphere separate from the gallery space, and manipulates the way individual works can be seen within them. Recent projects include the Lightsource Installation at The Wapping Project, Crazy Golf at The Deptford Project, Pierrot Project at Generation & Display, Entrances & Exits at The Warehouse, Waterloo, Pierrot and Refuge at Griffin Gallery Perimeter Space.
