The iconic musical, THE SOUND OF MUSIC, starring Julie Andrews and Christopher Plummer, is now celebrating its 50th Anniversary.
The movie, which premiered on March 2, 1965, earned five Oscars, including best picture, and grossed over $110 million at the box office in its initial run, a figure estimated to be the equivalent of $800 million in today's money. The film remained the most successful movies of all time at the box office, until it was surpassed by 1972's "The Godfather".
