According to UK's The Stage, creators of the West End's THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG, may be bringing the Mischief Theatre's comedy to both a BBC sitcom and a Broadway production as early as next year.
Writers Henry Lewis and Jonathan Sayer, who head up the Mischief Theatre, tell the site that the company is currently in the process of creating several projects for the small screen, including a family sitcom for the BBC. Explains Lewis, "We are hoping to do some stuff that takes us away from theatre, so we may need to change our name to Mischief Productions... TV is a risk averse industry, and I understand why - if things go down badly it can be hugely costly to a production company and broadcasters. But hopefully we will get someone to take the plunge soon because I think we could do something really exciting."
He goes on to reveal that THE PLAY THAT GOES WRONG may be heading to Broadway in February 2017. "We were offered a theatre in the autumn but we could not have spent this amount of money on pre-production for [the theatre company's new show] "The Comedy About a Bank Robbery" and then only run three or four months with the original cast." He adds, "So we said to our New York partners that we want to get The Comedy About a Bank Robbery through Christmas and the New Year and then recast it, so that it can continue and the original cast of Bank Robbery can go to New York and do The Play That Goes Wrong."

The Play That Goes Wrong began in 2013, when it opened as a one-act show at the Old Red Lion in London with only four paying members of the public at the first performance. This was followed by a transfer to the Trafalgar Studios, where the show's unique potential was spotted by producers Kenny Wax and Stage Presence, and subsequently to the Duchess Theatre.
In the next two years, productions of The Play That Goes Wrong will open in China, USA, Australia, Hungary, Poland, Spain, Greece, Israel, Scandinavia, France, Italy, Brazil, Germany, Belgium, Holland, Argentina, Uruguay, Turkey, New Zealand, Hong Kong, Singapore, Philippines and South Africa.
Co-written by Mischief Theatre company members Henry Lewis, Jonathan Sayer and Henry Shields, both productions are renowned for their highly physical comedy packed with finely-tuned farce andBuster Keaton inspired slapstick delivered with split-second timing.
