The Pawnbroker will perform at FringeNYC Venue #12: 64E4 UNDERGROUND - The Paradise Factory, located at 64 East 4th Street in New York City.

What price would you pay for love? For the women in playwright Bertolt Brecht's life, that price included their dignity, their sanity, even their place in history. Set against the ominous backdrop of rising Nazi Germany, The Pawnbroker reveals the powerful and complex stories of such women as Elisabeth Hauptmann, Helene Weigel, and others whose contributions to Brecht's life and work have been shockingly overlooked. Seen through the eyes of five of these women, The Pawnbroker tells the controversial story of Brecht's legend, and what those women lost to create it. (www.YouDontKnowBrecht.com)
