With Samuel L. Jackson leaving to shoot a film, producers of THE MOUNTAINTOP Jean Doumanian and Sonia Friedman are considering recasting the show, which also stars Angela Bassett, according to Variety.

So far the show has had a single-week extension and is now scheduled to end its limited run on Jan. 22 when Jackson leaves the show to beginning filming a movie.

"It's eminently recastable," Friedman said of the show. But recasting a show with such a big-name star can mean trouble at the box office.

But recasting isn't the only option for the show reports Variety "There's also been interest from regional presenters and producers are talking about a live HD cinemacast of the show, probably sometime in January.

There's also the possibility that Jackson could return to the production following filming. In this case, Bassett would likely appear in the show for several weeks with a temporary co-star."

"We'd love to get Sam back," Doumanian told Variety.
