The Brewing Dept. is proud to present Jenny Vallancourt's new play The Living Room, directed by Thomas Kapusta, as part of the 5th Annual Planet Connections Theatre Festivity. The Festivity will take place May 30 through June 24 at the Gene Frankel and Robert Moss Theatres. The Living Room will play in the Gene Frankel Theatre June 8 through June 22.

Verna, a new kind of scientist, has learned to endow furniture with the essence of a human being. But since her discovery, her lover Saul has been feeling... empty. Tina seeks Verna's science out in order to finally leave her boyfriend Ikeman - while leaving him with a part of herself, too. When Tina meets Saul, a love triangle emerges... and it isn't between three people, exactly. In The Living Room, sometimes it's easier to love a coffee table than a human being.

The Living Room features Kathryn Maslak as Verna, Brian LaPerche as Saul, Yasmeen Jawar as Tina, and Yonatan Gebeyehu as Ikeman.

The Living Room will feature original music by Katie Hathaway, scenic design by Stephen Davan, and lighting design by Camille Simoneau.

The Living Room plays the following schedule as part of the Planet Connections Theatre Festivity:

Saturday 6/8/13 - 4:30pm

Sunday 6/9/13 - 1:30pm

Thursday 6/13/13 - 9:00pm

Wednesday 6/19/13 - 7:00pm

Thursday 6/20/13 - 9:00pm

Saturday 6/22/13 - 4:30pm

The Brewing Dept. is a collective of emerging theater artists founded on the idea that we can achieve more as a group than we can individually. Made up of Columbia University 2011 and 2012 graduates, TBD is committed to separating the definition of artistic success from the idea of a final, polished performance. We make dynamic, living theater by allowing artists the time and creative space to develop their work. We also seek to connect audiences with the creative process, starting the conversation between artist and audience before the first performance, and continuing the conversation beyond the piece's closing performance.

The Planet Connections Festivity is New York's premiere eco-friendly/socially-conscious arts festival. Fostering a diverse cross-section of performances, the Festivity seeks to inspire artists and audiences both creatively and fundamentally, in a festive atmosphere. At the heart of the Festivity are like-minded individuals striving to create professional, meaningful theatre, film, music and art while supporting organizations, which give back to the community at large.
