As announced on Deadline, Sarah Steele, currently starring in the Tony-winning drama THE HUMANS on Broadway, has joined the cast of CBS All Access' upcoming THE GOOD WIFE spin-off series. She will join previously announced cast members Christine Baranski and Cush Jumbo.
The series will pick up one year after the events of the original series final episode, with Baranski reprising her role as Diane Lockhart. The show will follow "an enormous financial scam that has destroyed the reputation of a young lawyer, while simultaneously wiping out her mentor Diane Lockhart's savings. Forced out of Lockhart & Lee, they join Lucca Quinn at one of Chicago's preeminent law firms."
Steele will reprise her role as Eli Gold's (Alan Cumming) smart and outspoken daughter Marissa Gold. Her character is described as "a brilliant but scattered millennial who begins as Diane Lockhart's secretary, but finds she has a knack for investigating."In a statement to Deadline, GOOD WIFE creators Robert and Michelle King shared, "We're absolutely thrilled that Sarah will be joining the show. She's a magnificent comedian with the dramatic skill to keep every scene real."
The 10-episode THE GOOD WIFE spinoff will premiere in February on CBS before its episodes are released on CBS' SVOD and live streaming platform All Access.
In addition to role as Brigid Blake in THE HUMANS, Steele has appeared on Broadway in 2014's THE COUNTRY HOUSE.
As BWW reported last week, THE HUMANS is set to play its final performance at the Schoenfeld Theater on January 15th. No word yet on whether the drama will transfer to another Broadway house or continue its run at an off-Broadway theater.Photo Credit: Walter McBride / WM Photos
