THE FRINGE FESTIVAL Presents PAINTING HIS WINGS

Television writer, Sinead Daly (current associate producer and writer, The Get Down (Netflix, Baz Luhrmann) and CBS' Blue Bloods) is also a celebrated playwright. Her moving and imaginative work, PAINTING HIS WINGS makes its New York theatre debut as part of the 2015 New York International Fringe Festival. The play is produced by Making It Happen Productions and is directed by Heather Lanza, the play's original director from its premiere at the 2013 Berkshire Fringe.

The play centers on how Abellona, who creates an imaginary world of homemade finger puppets and dreams to her family cope with loss. The imaginative pre-teen leads her family through fantasy in order to make a better reality and devastation into acceptance and understanding. The cast features Ciaran Byrne, Schuyler Press, and Alison Scaramells, and Jake Davis (Tip in Boardwalk Empire).

Painting His Wings marks Making It Happen's fifth production, which have included world premiere plays at festivals and theaters across the east coast including Theater for a New Audience's Dream Up Festival, Planet Connections Festival, Manhattan Repertory Theater, and The Berkshire Fringe Festival.

Painting His Wings marks Daly's second play produced at the New York International Fringe Festival.

SINEAD DALY is a NYC-based playwright and television writer/producer. Currently, she is an associate producer and writer on the new Netflix Baz Luhrmann show, The Get Down, and she recently wrote an episode of CBS' Blue Bloods. She also recently completed a commission for Ensemble Studio Theater/The Sloan Project. Her plays have been seen at the New York Fringe Festival, Naked Angels, Ars Nova's ANT Fest, Planet Connections Festivity, Bar80, Atlanta's Horizon Theatre, the Berkshire Fringe Festival, the Yale Playwrights Festival, LaGuardia Community College, among others. In 2012, Sinead was named "The Best of Young Brooklyn" by The L Magazine for her work as a playwright. Sinead has worked in the writing departments of CBS's Blue Bloods and TNT's Public Morals. Sinead is a graduate of Yale University with a BA in Theater Studies.

HEATHER LANZA is a NYC-based theater director, arts educator, and teaching artist who believes that theater can and should be a way to open up dialogue and shed light on societal issues. As a director, Heather has worked at Theater for a New City, The Players Theater, Bleecker Street Theater, Emerging Artists Theater, Berkshire Fringe, NYC Fringe and many others. Heather is currently the Director of Education for Waterwell, whose intensive arts-education program provides world class theater training for 200 students at the Professional Performing Arts School in New York City. Before coming to Waterwell, Heather worked with ArtsConnection as a Program Manager, running several of their after-school teen programs. As a teaching artist, Heather has worked for organizations such as the Creative Arts Team's Youth Theater, Harlem Children's Zone, and CUNY/Project Rwanda. Heather holds a BA in Directing from Fordham University and an MA in Applied Theater from CUNY School of Professional Studies.
