Want to know what hooked your favorite Broadway stars to a career in the theater? Dying to know more about their dream roles? Their Broadway crushes? Every Friday afternoon, BroadwayWorld is bringing you THE FRIDAY SIX: Q&As with the best of Broadway and beyond.
In this week's edition, we caught up with Kate Baldwin, who returns to the Sheen Center on September 18 to sing the music of Georgia Stitt. For tickets, visit: http://sheencenter.org
What is the first Broadway show you ever saw?
Starlight Express ("answer me, yes!") My chorus came from Wisconsin to sing at Avery Fisher Hall. We got to see people on roller skates sing and be trains. It was huge and beautiful.
What is your most unique pre-show ritual?Pretending to not want to do the show and making up reasons why I can't. Secretly, I ALWAYS want to do the show.
What is your most memorable "the show must go on" moment? My Broadway debut. I was a swing in the Full Monty company and I made my entrance where I had to deliver a line to Patrick Wilson, but didn't say the line. I just stared at him silently. Probably creepily. He waited for me politely before realizing I wasn't going to help and then delivered his line and got the laugh he always got. The show DID go on. Without me. In *spite* of me.
