Welcome to THE FRIDAY SIX: Q&As with your favorite Broadway stars. Want to know what hooked them to a career in the theater? Their dream roles? Their Broadway crushes? Read on!
In this week's edition, we caught up with Collin Kelly-Sordelet, who is starring as 'Young Gideon/Tom Dawson' in The Last Ship- currently playing at the Neil Simon Theatre.
What is the first Broadway show you ever saw?
I saw the first invited dress rehearsal of Lion King when I was about two years old. I remember flashes of the performance, but I mostly remember the reaction of the crowd.
What is your most unique pre-show ritual?
I spend a few minutes before every show closing my eyes, breathing deeply, and imaging the lives of the characters I play in the show. I find that it helps center me for each show and really grounds me in Wallsend.
What is your most memorable "the show must go on" moment?
Well I was very sick for the last few weeks of performances when we were in Chicago. There was one performance that I didn't have a speaking voice off stage, luckily on stage the show went flawlessly.
What is the one role you want to play before you die?
I would like the chance to play Hamlet at some point in my career.
Who is your Broadway crush?Emma Stone. I've had a huge crush on her since Superbad.
