Want to know what hooked your favorite Broadway stars to a career in the theater? Dying to know more about their dream roles? Their Broadway crushes? Every Friday afternoon, BroadwayWorld is bringing you THE FRIDAY SIX: Q&As with the best of Broadway and beyond.
In this week's edition, we caught up with Cassie Beck, who stars as 'Aimee Blake' in THE HUMANS, playing at the Gerald Schoenfeld Theatre.
What is the first Broadway show you ever saw?
Incredibly late to this party- my first visit to New York was a college graduation gift, so RENT was my first Broadway show. (*Fun fact- Michael Grief was the first director I auditioned for in NYC 9 years after seeing RENT)
What is your most unique pre-show ritual? It varies, but what is always true is that I get to places about 5 minutes early just to be by myself and listen to the audience for a bit. I also don't drink water for an hour before the show, because I HATE having to pee while performing, that's the worst.
What is your most memorable "the show must go on" moment?
We had an extra cast mate in THE WHALE at Playwrights Horizons- a mouse. He loved the garbage piled set, and would pop out from under the couch and run around stage during the show. I always knew when he had appeared because the front row Audience members would jump out of their skin.
What is the one role you want to play before you die?
I'm a new play girl, so I just want the roles to be written before I die! But I do have a longing to play Stella. That would be dreamy.
Who is your Broadway crush?Joe Mantello (weak attempt at kissing up, but also true!), Nick Cordero, James Monroe Igelhart and Rebecca Naomi Jones. You asked for four crushes- right?
