Welcome to THE FRIDAY SIX: Q&As with your favorite Broadway stars. Want to know what hooked them to a career in the theater? Their dream roles? Their Broadway crushes? Read on!
In this week's edition, we caught up with Mitchell Jarvis, who is starring as 'Stacee Jaxx' in Rock of Ages- currently playing at the Helen Hayes Theatre.
What is the first Broadway show you ever saw?
When I came to town for my Juilliard audition (didn't get in, btw) I saw Titanic. I was thrilled, even though the guy next to me snored through the show...
What is your most unique pre-show ritual?
I love making videos backstage. There were stretches of my Rock of Ages life when we would be shooting scenes right up until "places" (you can still see said videos on YouTube, on the ROAProductions channel).
What is your most memorable "the show must go on" moment?
I came back to ROA after a week off and, for some reason, stepped out feeling like I'd never been on stage before. I forgot three speeches, and fell into the set. It was a truly surreal moment... and a legendary story at the show.
What is the one role you want to play before you die?
Too many to name.... but I'd be lying if I didn't say I've always wanted to play Hamlet.
Who is your Broadway crush?
Well, Liza of course... after our special moment during the Rock of Ages Tony Awards performance, she will always be my girl.
Where can people 'stalk' you online?
I have a twitter handle, @mitchjarvisNYC... and in addition to the YouTube channel, you can see my latest original series called "it could be worse" on Hulu :)
