Welcome to THE FRIDAY SIX: Q&As with your favorite Broadway stars. Want to know what hooked them to a career in the theater? Their dream roles? Their Broadway crushes? Read on!
In this week's edition, we caught up with Carly Hughes, who is starring as 'Leading Player' in Pippin- currently playing at the Music BoxTheatre.
What is the first Broadway show you ever saw?
FOOTLOOSE - My high school dance company took a day trip to NYC. I wasn't able to frequent NYC while growing up, but I checked out EVERY musical available on VHS from the Howard County Public Library! I drove my little brother crazy.
What is your most unique pre-show ritual?
Opening the Songza App, choosing a mood and singing along.
What is your most memorable "the show must go on" moment?
I was playing 'Sarah' in a regional production of RAGTIME and one night during the opening number a member of the cast s*%t his pants! It was so bad that the entire orchestra, front half of the audience, and the cast on stage felt like we were stuck in a giant baby diaper. He never left the stage and [we] did the whole opening number with his pants full of s*%t! Now, you know how long the opening number of RAGTIME is!! Needless to say, the faces in Harlem, New Rochelle & those Immigrants were cracked.
What is the one role you want to play before you die?
There are lots! But right now I'd love to play 'Glinda' (in WICKED). Hey, if Beyoncé, Rihanna, and Kim Kardashian can be a cute honey blonde, why can't I? :)
Who is your Broadway crush?
Bradley Cooper! He should cross the street and come see me ... Just sayin'.
Where can people 'stalk' you online?
I hope I don't get any crazy stalkers, but everyone can follow me @carlyhughes101 on Twitter and @carlyt101 on Instagram.
