Welcome to THE FRIDAY SIX: Q&As with your favorite Broadway stars. Want to know what hooked them to a career in the theater? Their dream roles? Their Broadway crushes? Read on!
In this week's edition, we caught up with Allison Guinn, who is starring as 'Lucy Schmeeler' in On The Town- currently playing at the Lyric Theatre.
What is the first Broadway show you ever saw?
I'm from North East Tennessee so I didn't get to see a Broadway show till I saw BEAUTY AND THE BEAST on my high school senior class trip. I used to check out GYPSY from the library all the time when I was a kid.
What is your most unique pre-show ritual? For this show, I like to watch classic Looney Tunes shorts.
What is your most memorable "the show must go on" moment?I shudder to remember a horrific childrens theater tour in which the pinnacle of its awfulness was when I had to go on for the lead last minute and I very nearly said the F word (I was supposed to sing the word "cluck" and my tongue got tied) in front if an audience of under 10 year olds. Whoops!
Oh Gosh! Where to begin?! I know you said just one, but I'd love to play 'Agnes Gooch' in a AUNTIE MAME, 'Bella' in LOST IN YONKERS. If there's ever a A LEAGUE OF THEIR OWN musical, I'd like to call dibs on 'Marla Hooch,' and 'Estragon' in WAITING FOR GODOT.
Who is your Broadway crush?Josh Lamon and of course Michael Rupert!
Where can people 'stalk' you online?I think on YouTube I have several Autoharp performances. I like to sing classic rock and old time country. I also wrote the jingle for D'aigle Autoharps and that plays when you go to their website.Videos
