Welcome to THE FRIDAY SIX: Q&As With Your Favorite Broadway Stars. Want to know what hooked them to a career in the theater? Their dream roles? Their Broadway crushes? Read on!

In this week's edition, we caught up with Andy Richardson, who is starring as 'Crutchie' in Newsies- currently playing at the Nederlander Theatre.

What is the first Broadway show you ever saw?

I saw THE PRODUCERS when I was 11. Lee Roy Reams had directed me in a regional production of THE MUSIC MAN in Austin, Texas, and I went to see him perform as 'Roger De Bris'. He was hilarious, of course.

What is your most unique pre-show ritual?

As 'Crutchie,' I don't exactly dance in the show. So to keep my flexibility, I stretch before fight call. I love contorting and tumbling, so I always end up doing front and back walkovers, aerials, and walking handstands across the stage. I even sometimes run around while in a bridge. It's my own personal circus.

What is your most memorable "the show must go on" moment?

Before, when I was 'Romeo' in our show, I didn't leave the stage during the second act because I was either in the scene or on the set. At the start of the second act, I had to bring on a table. Right as I pliéd, my pants ripped in the back. I couldn't leave the stage the rest of the act, but I had this huge hole in the seat of my pants! I eventually had to ask a fellow cast member to bring me a safety pin the next time they came onstage. I ended up safety pinning my pants during a scene while I was upstage on our set. It was hilariously ridiculous.

What is the one role you want to play before you die?

I've always wanted to be 'Jack' in INTO THE WOODS!

Who is your Broadway crush?

Not gonna lie. When I saw CINDERELLA, I was struck by how beautiful and talented Laura Osnes is. Pair that with how sweet she is and you've got one amazing gal.
